If you are familiar with AirB&B, Turo, or dozens of other companies in the sharing universe, then you are already familiar with the model for DirtJobbers.   We connect small equipment owners for equipment such as Skid Steers, Tracked Loaders, Mini Excavators, and Large Lawn tractors (and small farm tractors) with DIYers who need access to this equipment to complete projects.   This type of equipment would comfortably fit on a trailer towed behind a pickup truck.   If the equipment requires a permit for being too tall, too long, or too heavy for transport, that job is left to the "big equipment" rental places.

Our focus is on rural America, where the need to move dirt or other materials, or the clear land is common.  It may be to clear land for a barn, fill a gully, till the soil for a garden, or reshape a hillside to address erosion issues.  These might be property owners or small contractors who would not typically own such equipment nor have a long-term need for its use.

How we deliver value

Idle time for equipment is a lost opportunity for the equipment owner.  We bring together equipment owners with those who have a need with a consumer-friendly model.  The current providers in the market, companies such as Sunbelt Rental, are focused on professional contractors and have limited inventory options.  By 2030, the market for earth moving equipment purchases, in addition to farm and lawn equipment, will reach 1.7 Billion USD in new equipment purchases.  Owners can leverage a marketplace to rent out their equipment during idle time. For consumers to need access to such equipment, DirtJobbers provides a broad market of providers and pricing to consumers who need such equipment for small to medium jobs.

Where we are in our journey

In 2024, DirtJobbers participated in the first cadre of the mentor-driven American Technology Venture Lab program to help distill our solution for the market.   As we move into 2025, we will be holding a series of townhall events with prospective renters and equipment owners to ensure that we are meeting a real market need and that we are appropriately addressing the concerns and risks that come from the renting of small and medium-sized construction, earth moving, farming, and lawn equipment.
